HAVE YOU ADOPTED A PET FROM THE SPCA?

We at the SPCA try to ensure that our orphans go to quality homes – to responsible, caring owners who can afford their care and will provide a safe and loving environment. Our animals have brought joy to thousands of people over the years. Please contact us on (031)273-1200 and ask for the Adoption department in order to discuss the adoption process with our staff.

HAVE YOU ADOPTED A PET FROM THE SPCA?
If so, we would love to hear from you!
Please send your adoption story and a photograph of yourself with your pet either by e-mail direct to the editor (shirleybell@telkomsa.net) or by surface mail to our marketing manager, Caroline, at the SPCA.

Here is a happy Kelly with her new owner, Corinne Bestel. Corinne came up to the SPCA as soon as she saw Kelly’s picture in the Berea Mail and straightaway decided to adopt her. The SPCA staff were thrilled that Kelly found a new owner who will love her and care for her, but were sad to say goodbye to this little character who had stolen the hearts of the kennel hands.

Denise Thomas-Chetty is a devoted animal lover, and here are some of her and her family’s pets, past and present. Her family has adopted animals from the Richards Bay SPCA (Cammy, a little Maltese) and Eshowe SPCA (Simba, a golden Cocker Spaniel). “Both of these ngels have passed on,” she tells us.
“We lost Simba on 3 Jan 2005. He was rescued from an abusive owner who left him in a garden shed for days with just bread and water. When we first got him he was underweight and afraid of everyone. But that soon changed, and he took his place as King of our household.”

Yvonne Sherwin sent us these picture of her mother, Vera Thompson, with a very happy little dog Fluffy, whom she recently adopted. Her Mom, says Yvonne, is Fluffy’s equally “happy human”, and they would like Fluffy’s previous owner to know how contented he is in his new home. The photographs were taken by Vera’s 14-year-old granddaughter, Mandy Sherwin, who is a keen photographer.

Heidi van der Wath and Guy Ling with their adopted small terrier cross-breed, Amber.  Who could resist this appealing little face?
