Bequests Brochure page 2
Correct Wording is Crucial

It's important that your Will or codicil carries our proper name, which is the ‘ Durban and Coast Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals'.

If you wish to add a codicil to an existing Will – in order to make a bequest to the SPCA – please ask us for a correctly worded codicil form.

Your Bequests Matters

The SPCA receives no help from the State – no subsidy nor contribution.
Saving animals from harm, rescuing those in distress, sheltering homeless pets, keeping SPCA Inspectors and Mobile Clinics on the road, providing medical care to sick and injured animals – this is all done only through the support of compassionate people.

Let us know
Your donations to the SPCA – and the bequests that kind friends leave to us in their Wills – is the reason we can help animals. Without it, we'd have to close our doors.

If you choose to include the SPCA in your Will – or have already done so – please let us know.Let us show our appreciation now, rather than thank your executors later.

Your Generosity at Work

The SPCA does far more than find homes for pets, although this is a demanding part of our work.

Addressing abuse
SPCA Inspectors investigate reports of abuse and rescue animals in distress. Offenders may be prosecuted.

Veterinary attention
Mobile Clinics visit underprivileged areas to provide on-the-spot medical care to sick or injured animals. They also fulfil a key educational role. Pets are transported to the SPCA for hospitalisation if necessary.

The pets of underprivileged people are helped in our clinic, and surgery is performed in our Animal Hospital .

Education
Our Education Officer visits schools to promote the humane treatment of animals; predominantly in underprivileged areas.

Livestock and wild animals
The welfare of all
animals is a priority –
including the way they're transported, kept or used in cultural and religious practices.

Stray animals
We house stray pets on the municipality's behalf. Unclaimed animals are offered for adoption after seven days .
