The SPCA does far more than find homes for pets, although this is a demanding part of our work.
Addressing abuse
SPCA Inspectors investigate reports of abuse and rescue animals in distress. Offenders may be prosecuted.
Veterinary attention
Mobile Clinics visit underprivileged areas to provide on-the-spot medical care to sick or injured animals. They also fulfil a key educational role. Pets are transported to the SPCA for hospitalisation if necessary.
The pets of underprivileged people are helped in our clinic, and surgery is performed in our Animal Hospital .
Education
Our Education Officer visits schools to promote the humane treatment of animals; predominantly in underprivileged areas.
Livestock and wild animals
The welfare of all
animals is a priority –
including the way they're transported, kept or used in cultural and religious practices.
Stray animals
We house stray pets on the municipality's behalf. Unclaimed animals are offered for adoption after seven days . |
