When you have read The Animal Angle, we would so appreciate it if you would pass it on to your employees to take home and also ask them to let their children pass it on to their teachers once they have finished with it.
Our task is to help the thousands of pets that are being ill-treated or neglected in the areas we cover - sometimes through deliberate cruelty, but more often owing to carelessness, neglect or ignorance.
Many actually think that animals do not feel and do not have the capacity to suffer. Readers would be horrified if they knew how little many people know about animals. We have our education programme for schools, but the task is enormous, and we need all the help we can get. And as you will see from Laura’s report on our Humane Education programme in this issue, ignorance is not found only at schools in poorer areas where many of the children some from disadvantaged backgrounds.
