Twenty-four years ago, a feral black cat was trapped at the SPCA and sterilised. She then stayed around, remained in good health, and was no trouble at all.
She was a reserved cat and not easy to pat, but she made friends with a peacock, and together they would ‘roost’ in a tree at night.
Then the peacock went off to live at a mosque where such birds are sometimes kept to roam around and are valued for their beauty.
The cat then made friends with an SPCA staff member, although she was always inclined to keep her own company.
Finally, in her extreme old age, all her organs failed, and she had to be gently euthanased.
