Last year our Inspectors investigated over 16 000 cruelty cases, carried out 356 recues and nearly 9 000 inspections and collections. 15 000 animals were admitted to our facility, and our Animal Hospital and Clinic attended to over 54 000 animals!

But whilst the impact we have made is clear through these statistics, it is the immeasurable differences that really count.

Imagine the difference our SPCA makes in the life of just ONE animal, which has known nothing but cruelty or neglect during its lifetime. To experience compassion – perhaps for the first time – surely has a profound impact. To be lifted by gentle hands, hear soothing words, get regular affection and meals ... I don't know how to measure that, but it surely means the world of difference to that one animal.

Unfortunately, the more animals we attend to, the more it costs. Just as we are all affected by petrol, food and other price hikes, so too is the SPCA. Because we receive no State Funding, it is individual donors that we rely upon for support. But the tougher times get, the less disposable income people have – and monetary donations dwindle.

Fortunately, there is a way of giving that does not cause strain on your finances today – and that is making a bequest in your Will. Only when you no longer need it, will your money be used to speak for thousands of voiceless animals in the future. Knowing that your guiding principal of compassion for animals will continue beyond your lifetime is truly special. It makes a reality the tangible difference that YOU want to make in the world.
